Gobble Gobble! It's that time of year for the turkey crafts again, Thanksgiving Day! Thanksgiving Day is celebrated in Canada and United States. Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving day on the second Monday in October while Americans celebrate it on the fourth Thursday in November.
Turkey crafts are very popular on Thanksgiving Day because that is what people eat on that special day. With a little imagination you can make a turkey from anything around the house or outside in the yard. You can make an adorable turkey from a pine cone and pipe cleaners or construction paper, craft sticks/ Popsicle sticks and paint.
To make the above turkey mask, go to this page and print out the turkey face pattern.
While at first glance they appear to have no resemblance to animals and birds, just a few additions will convert pine cones into charming little figures. By using beads for eyes, acorns for heads, twigs for legs, and a little paint to add reality, you can shape various figures, surprisingly real. For example, this pine cone turkey is made of a cone with pipe cleaner neck and legs. The end of the cleaner that comprises the neck is curled to represent a head. The carmen wattles are daubed on with vermilion paint, or red ink. The ends of the legs are curled substantially to give enough surface so that the figure will stand.
Make a colorful Thanksiving turkey with 2 paper plates and the following template. Open up this Turkey template to get the parts to make it. You can draw an eye or cut out a paper eye for the turkey. Color in the beak and top of its head. Trace the template feathers and then paste them inside the two plates along with the turkey's head.
