Pilgrims and Thanksgiving Day crafts go hand in hand. The Pilgrims, also known as the religious English Colonists, are very important part of Thanksgiving history. The Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving Day on the second Monday in October while the Americans celebrate it on the fourth Thursday in November.
So are so many Pilgrim themed crafts for children out there. You can make a simple Pilgrim hat from construction paper which is very easy to make or a Pilgrim paper doll.
Here is the pilgrim boy template. Print it out and cut out. Use a 6 inch paper plate. Cut in 1/2 inches from the outside edge. Then cut around the plate but stop 2 inches from the first slit. The remaining 2 inch tab makes the neck. The head measures 5 inches across after the 1/2 inch strip has been removed.
1. Hat. Pattern is on the fold. Score dotted line and fold up brim. Side tabs go behind the head.
2. Buckle. Cut and paste on.
3. Eye. Cut two and paste on.
4. Nose. Cut and paste on.
5. Mouth. Cut and paste on.
6. Collar. Cut on the fold. Insert neck through center cut. Paste together.
Hair is made of two paper strips 3 inch x 5 inch. Curl each strip under and paste to top of paper plate.

Hair is made by stapling together three 1/2 inch x 12 inch paper strips and braiding together. Secure ends with a pipe cleaner. Attach braid to back of plate.
