It's the most wonderful time of the year again (Christmas) and it's the season for Santa, Snowmen, and other Christmas crafts. Did you know you do not need any snow to make a snowman craft? You will be surprise how much snowmen crafts and decorations you can easily make from materials at home and on a budget too.
One of the cheapest snowmen you can ever make is from a pair of white socks filled with polyester fiberfill, rubber bands and decorated with buttons. An infant colored sock can be used as the winter hat. You can also make a simple snowman ornament from an old light bulb by painting it white, drawing on the facial features and adding a hat on his head.
These are a lot of fun to make in the Winter months. Get a jar and crumble up paper and then attach it to the jar with tape. Make the head much smaller than the bottom of the jar...as pictured above. When you have the shape of the snowman that you wanted, than you can get cotton and glue it to the outside of the jar and paper. Next cut out black eyes for both circles and buttons and glue them on the snowman. Cut out an orange cone / triangle shape for the nose and then draw curvy lines to make it look like a carrot. Use a ribbon for the snowman's scarf. Twist pipe cleaners into 'Y' shapes...look at the picture above. color a cardboard tube black. Then make a bigger black circle for the bottom of the hat. Glue a smaller circle on the top of the hat. Now just put it on the snowman's head. You can use the snowman as both a decoration and as storage for trinkets.
Glue a snowma made of absorbent cotton balls to the center of an aluminum foil plate or pan. You glue a branch and some yarn on the snowman for the broom. You can use construction paper for the eyes, nose, hat, and pipe. This is like a 3D shadow box because of the depth of the foil pan. You can also paint in other decorations and add a string for hanging.
