One of the best artistic canvases you can find for a budding artist is a pair of white canvas shoes. I know I can usually find a pair for my little girl at the big "W" store nearby for just $5. This gives her a relatively inexpensive blank slate to doodle all over and wear to school and show off. If heaven forbid she really messes it up its really not the end of the world because it was so cheap in the first place.
