Transformed to A Room of Wonder for Kids of All Ages

BEAUTIFUL ZOO SCENE PULLED DIRECTLY FROM THEIR IMAGINATIONS

With the leadership and creativity of Artist and Head Organizer, Didi D'Errico, This Zoo-Themed mural at Mt. Sinai has become a complete success. The beauty of this mural has transcended all that we have done so far, and we can't thank these artists enough. There was a wonderful article in the NY Daily News on Sunday, April 17th, and hopefully we will have that up soon. The wonderful artists who worked on this mural are Lauren Rudolph Tania Corse, Tara Macolino, Nereida Martinez, and Didi D'Errico. We worked together with the wonderful hospital staff, including Anna Eckhardt (Child Life Specialist), Dr. Ari Cohen (Physician in Charge), Dr. Lara Zibner (Attending Physician, Pediatric Emergency Department), and Dr. Karin Sadow (Director, Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine). Above you can see Tania Corse painting the bottom of a giraffe's leg. Tania is a wonderful artist who has painted multiple beautiful murals along with Didi and Lauren in the past.

Above you can see from Didi D'Errico(left top), Nereida Martinez (bottom left), Tania Corse, and Tara Macolino at the right. These volunteer artists did a smashing job in this beautiful zoo exam room. Is that monkees I hear?

Above you can see Didi with her beautiful parrots over her left shoulder. I can't wait to see what it looks like when the walls are done.

Hey Tania - Did you paint that beautiful giraffe?! Wow!!!! Beautiful!!! Those kiddies will love visiting this exam room...they probably won't even notice the ER equipment with all of those noisy zoo animals.

Look at Lauren and her magic paintbrush. She puts it in the paint and beautiful imagery is painted all over the walls. What a great elephant (that Tara painted), monkey, and brick road that you are painting. Which way is the zoo and which way is the hospital? It is so real that I feel disoriented. Stop painting so well and we won't have that problem anymore. Lauren has continuously working on mural after mural with Artists Helping Children.

These giraffes, zebras, and trees are just so beautiful that I can't take my eyes off of them. This is the idea...hopefully the sick and hurt kids won' t look or think of anything except the pictures either. Who need to think about the pain, when they can focus on this wonderful zoo scene.

Tara standing by Didi's colorful parrots and her own creation - the brave elephant. You did a great job Tara. We all love the elephant, and everyone knows how much kids love elephants!!

Wow - These tigers are just amazing!!! Lauren worked very hard on getting these Tigers just perfect, and she did. PURR-fect.

Lauren working on one of her amazing lions. It is interesting to see how this majestic lion comes about. Look at the next picture to see how Lauren changed simple shadows into a full figured lion....look to your right..

And here you can see Lauren's beautiful lions in the front and to the back one of her tigers. I love the lions and how the orange looks so amazing next to the green. Wow!

Hi Monkey! This scene wouldn't be complete without Lauren's monkey. This monkey is so cute and happy that I have a feeling this will be one of the favorites of the little boys and girls visiting this ER Room.

Here you can see Nereida painting one of the gorgeous trees. Nereida has been an essential part of our team lately and has helped us in so many ways. Thank you for helping out!!!

Here you can see Didi's monkey and turtle in the field. Are the kids going to even notice all of the medical equipment, I highly doubt it. Thanks Didi!

Here you can see what the zoo mural looks like with the beds back in the room. The room looks so much less daunting with the mural in the room. If I were a child, this would really help me feel better.

Just gorgeous, no matter what angle I look at the room. I know that this mural will help so many children. We are so proud of our volunteer artists.

It is such a happy room. When I look at this room, I can't help but smile.
