Scariest Halloween Edible Craft Ideas

I was roaming the internet the other day and I came across some of the scariest Halloween treats that I have ever seen…. I just had to share them with you.  I know food is not usually covered in this blog, but I was thinking…… not all crafts have to be made in the craft room.  Today I’m going to bring the crafts into the kitchen.  Check out some of the Scariest Halloween Edible Craft Ideas I have ever seen.

Ok, this Halloween treat is totally creepy…. and it looks so real.  Las Vegas Food Adventures knows how to make a scary, but delicious treat.  Made with almonds, cream cheese and red cake decorating gel these witch fingers are sure to be sweet.

I found this spooky treat at 365Halloween.com and I love the idea.  They are like “pigs in a blanket”, but changed up a bit.  These Mummy Dogs will actually ooze with edible green goo as you eat them.  YIKES!!

Made from a Meatloaf with cheese on top this is one disgusting looking hand, but promises to be delicious.  Not Martha shows you how to make this Meat Hand for yourself…. and scare all who comes near.

The name of this item turns my stomach a bit…. and so does the picture.  But, Cooking at Cafe D’ tells us it is perfectly fine to eat…. perhaps even tasty.  This is one icky dish perfect for Halloween.

This Halloween recipe is sure to be a big hit at any Halloween get-together.  I found this recipe at The Knead for Speed and it looks perfectly creepy and yet I find myself thinking it looks delicious.  Made from puff pastry and sweet filling what is not to love.

In Katrina’s Kitchen put together this creepy dish and I must say the consistency of this treat looks goopy and gross.  I’m not sure I could swallow it even though I know the green goo and white eyeballs are just jell-o…. it’s the consistency that gets me with this one.

Mask Making Fun – How to Make 3 Different Style Masks

Everyone knows that Masks are a perfect craft for Halloween.  But, if your kids are anything like my two littlest ones…. Masks are fun ANY time of year.  My children LOVE masks… love them!!  So, today I’m going to show you how to make three different style masks….. make your favorite or make all three.  Plenty of mask making fun.

How to Make 3 Different Style Masks

 

Mask 1

Mask 1 Directions

 

Materials Needed

Paper Bag

Chalk

Crayons

Scissors

Paint, Construction paper, yarn…. and anything you would like to decorate the mask with.

Directions:

  1. Put a paper bag over your head. Mark with chalk or crayon the places for eyes and mouth.
  2. Remove the bag and carefully cut these openings.
  3. Funny ears, a nose, and hair may be added by painting and pasting. Color with crayons or water colors.

Firm Paper (butcher paper would work)

Paint, Construction paper, yarn…. and anything you would like to decorate the mask with.

Notebook Reinforcements (makes holes stronger)

Directions:

  1. Cut a piece of firm paper large enough to cover your face and reach your ears. Hold the paper to your face and mark places for your eyes and mouth.
  2. Remove the paper and cut the openings.
  3. Punch holes in the sides just above the ears. Put notebook reinforcements or paper rings over the holes.
  4. Decorate the mask however way you would like.
  5. Use string, rubber bands, and paper clips to fasten the mask around your head.

Materials Needed

Clay

Cardboard, Slate or Wood

Paper Towels

Bright Colored Paint

Directions:

  1. Model a face of clay on a firm base of heavy cardboard, slate, or wood.
  2. Let the model dry. Cover it with a layer of damp strips of paper toweling.
  3. Paste four more layers over the first layer. Each layer should be at right angles to the one under it. When the paper is dry and rigid, remove the mask from the clay model.
  4. Paint the mask with bright colors.

There you have it…. 3 different style masks.  Your child is sure to find a Mask craft that fits their needs.  Have fun!!

How to Make a Skull Flashlight Cover

Today I’m going to show you how to make a Skull Flashlight Cover.  This Flashlight Cover is very spooky… perfect for carrying around this Halloween season.  It’s a simple craft made from a flashlight and paper bag.  But, don’t let its simplicity fool you…. the outcome is a flashlight cover worthy of being carried around during Trick or Treat for all to see.

How to Make a Skull Flashlight Cover

 

Materials Needed:

Flashlight

New Lunch Bag

White & Black Paint

Masking Tape

Construction Paper (optional)

Glue (optional)

 

Step 1

Paint the bag white

Obtain a new brown lunch bag (a used lunch bag would probably be too wrinkled and too hard to use).  Paint the bag white.  Let dry.

Bulb end of flashlight is inserted 2 inches in open end of the bag…leaving space between the bag and the light. Draw open end of bag together around flashlight and tape with masking tape or tie with string.  Tape bag with tape like a belt.

***Leave space between the flashlight and the end of the bag so that the paper bag doesn’t sit directly on the light. NEVER LEAVE THE FLASHLIGHT COVERED WHILE UNATTENDED AND TURN OFF WHEN NOT IN USE!!!***

Now let’s start with painting the face.  Bag may be decorated by using tempera or acrylic paints and/or construction paper.  If construction paper is used, the desired portions of the designs are cut out of the paper and glued to one or more faces of the bag.

Paint an oval for each eye and draw three thick lines for teeth

How to Make a Scarecrow Flashlight Cover

I have yet another Flashlight Cover craft to show you how to make.   It’s a Scarecrow Flashlight Cover and it is a cute one!!  This Scarecrow Flashlight will be perfect to carry around on Halloween while trick or treating so that cars will know you are there in the dark.  No child should be walking around in the dark without some sort of lit item….. so this flashlight cover craft is perfect.

Materials Needed:

How to Make a Jack-o-Lantern Flashlight Cover

Today I’m going to show you how to make a Jack-o-Lantern flashlight cover to carry on Halloween for trick or treating.  Whether your costume is scary, cute or funny this is the perfect lighted object to carry on Halloween.  And, then you can safely walk around the neighborhood on Halloween no matter how dark it gets.

Materials Needed:

Flashlight

New Lunch Bag

Orange Paint

Black Paint or Use Template to Print on Paper

Black Marker

Orange Construction Paper

Masking Tape

Glue

To make a mouth draw a letter U shape... closed and filled in with black

To make a mouth draw a letter U shape… closed and filled in with black.  To add teeth just push down 2 rectangles into that space… In other words, draw the same exact mouth shape… but add 2 rectangles.

Trick or Treat is right around the corner.  The kids are super excited about it and just can’t wait to get out at night and celebrate Halloween with tons of Trick or Treating.  But, before the kids step out the door make sure they have a flashlight in hand to help them not only see, but be seen by cars.  Today I will show you how to make your very own Frankenstein Flashlight Cover perfect for this Halloween.

Green Paint

Black Paint or Use Template to Print on Paper

Grey Paper or Tin Foil

Glue

Draw a thick line over eyes for his brows.  Draw a letter U shape for the mouth.  Draw sideways letter C for the nose.

 

Step 6

Draw a number 7 for the tooth

Draw a number 7 for the tooth.  Cut out two gray or tin foil circles for bolts and glue on his neck.

How to Make a Brown Bag Scarecrow Decoration

Scarecrows are a great fall character.  You see them in fall all around corn fields to protect the corn from crows.  Well, what fall holiday do the kids love more than any other???  Halloween, of course.  Here I will show you how to make a brown bag Scarecrow decoration perfect to display this Halloween season…. and why not even the entire fall season!!

Materials Needed:

Brown Grocery Bag

Tissues, Ripped up Newspaper or other Fillers

Stapler

Markers

Red Paint

Yellow Paper

Paste

Cardboard

Paper or Newspaper

Scissors

Tape

 

Step 1

Get a grocery bag and fill it with tissues, ripped up newspaper or another type of filler

It is a simple fact…. Halloween just wouldn’t be Halloween without Pumpkins.  In this post I will show you a creative and easy way to make three dimensional paper pumpkins perfect for Halloween.  Why not make a few and let you kids help decorate the house for Halloween.  They will love it!!

How to Make Paper Pumpkins for Halloween

 

 

Materials Needed:

Orange & Green Construction Paper

Glue

Scissors

Black Permanent Marker (Optional)

 

Step 1

Cut out 6 orange circles

Cut out 6 orange circles.

Fold each circle in half

Fold each circle in half.

 

Step 3

Glue all 6 half circles together so they are stacked

Cut the stem from green paper

Glue the stem in center

Glue the stem in center.  Glue the top half circle to the bottom circle.  This should create a circle shape by doing this.

How to Make a Skull Trick or Treat Basket

Today I will show you how to make a skull trick or treat basket.  This Halloween basket will be perfect for any child who plans on wearing any scary costume.  Imagine all the cool comments your child will get for this very creative and imaginative Halloween Basket.  Your child will love telling anyone who asks that they made the basket themselves.  How cool is that?!

Materials Needed:

White Bucket

Black Paint

White Glue

Potato

Permanent Marker

 

Step 1

Paint two egg-shaped ovals at top of bucket

Keep in mind when painting on plastic… to help the paint stick… add white glue to paint or rub a raw potato over the plastic (starch in potato).  Paint two egg-shaped ovals at top of bucket.

Paint 5 thick lines at bottom of bucket

Paint 5 thick lines at bottom of bucket… or use a permanent maker to do this.

 

Step 3

Draw an upside down heart shape for nose

You know how much thought goes into your child’s costume!!  But, sometimes the treat basket is an afterthought.  I know…. I use to carry my Halloween candy in a pillow case.  But, imagine how cute your child will look carrying this Mummy Trick or Treat Basket.  And, chances are no one else will have the exact basket.  Today I will show you how to make your very own Mummy trick or treat basket.

Materials Needed:

Black Bucket

White & Black Foam or Felt

White Gauze or Old Sheets

White Paint or Yarn

Glue

Scissors

 

Step 1

Start off with a black bucket

Cut and paste a white foam or felt circle for each eye... and a black foam/felt circle inside of it.

How to Make a Frankenstein Trick or Treat Basket

Halloween is coming up and what do the kids love about Halloween more than anything?! Trick or Treating, of course.  Today we will be making a Frankenstein Trick or Treat Basket perfect for collecting candy.  Made from a simple green bucket this Trick or Treat basket will be a huge hit this Halloween season.

How to make a Frankenstein Trick or Treat Basket

 

Materials Needed:

Green Bucket

Black & White Paint, Felt or Foam

Grey Paint

Black Permanent Marker

White String (if not using Paint)

Egg Carton

Scissors

Glue

 

Step 1

Buy a green bucket

Buy a green bucket at the Dollar Store.

Step 2

Paint triangles for hair

Choose to either Paint or use Felt or Foam.  If painting, add white glue to the paint to help it stick to the plastic.  Paint triangles for hair OR cut felt/foam triangles to top of bucket for the hair.

 

Step 3

Paint two white ovals and two black ovals for eyes.

(PAINT OR) Cut out and glue two different sized white ovals and black ovals for eyes.  Leave a space between the hair and eyes for stitches.

 

Step 4

(PAINT OR) Cut out and glue a sideways letter 'V' shape (filled in with black).

(PAINT OR) Cut out and glue a sideways letter ‘V’ shape (filled in with black).  With a permanent maker, draw a black curved line over the eyes.

 

Step 5

Draw lines over the curved line with a permanent marker.

Draw lines over the curved line with a permanent marker.  (PAINT OR) glue on white string lines for teeth.

 

Step 6

Cut off egg carton cups... One for each bolt.  Paint them grey to look like real bolts.
