HOW TO MAKE TIN CAN PHONES : Toy Making Crafts for Kids & Teens

This is another outdoor toy, and is a wonderful one for camp, or in the woods. It's an old toy, and because it is, it's frequently overlooked as a craft possibility.

Making Tin Can Phones

CRAFTS MATERIALS NEEDED:

hammer

nail

scissors

matchsticks

string

tin cans

How to Make Them:

Two tomato cans are about the right size. The string needs to he of a hard twist type, and one that will stand considerable pulling. Punch a hole in the bottom of each can with a hammer and nail, poke the string through, and tie the end to a matchstick. Fifty feet is a good length for the string. Make sure that the tin cans don't have sharp edges.

The two children should be far enough apart so that they can really hear through the string instead of through the air. The string needs to be under as much tension as possible for proper hearing
