Angels are said to be messengers of G-d in both Christianity and Judaism. However, angels aren't really talked about in Judaism, so they are mostly a Christian idea. Either way, angels are beautiful and encompass all that is Good.
Making angels is a great craft around Christmas time. They also are a great gift idea for people when they are ill or mourning someone that they have lost. Giving someone an angel as a gift is a way of giving them hope.
There are tons of angel crafts projects and ideas below. Some of them are easy and some of them are hard. But no matter which arts project you decide to do, try to create it with love and peace in your heart. So do you want some ideas for making your very own angel creations?
The first idea is an easy one. You know those paper clips that are really big? Teachers sometimes use these for stacks of papers. They are called butterfly clips. Take one of these and bend the wings up slightly to lool like angel wings. Then string ribbon through the middle and pull both sides even. Then put a pony bead down one of the sides until it is at the top of the butterfly clip. Then wear this as an angel necklace. It is beautiful and easy to make.
Another idea is to get a clothespin. Cut out angel wings from white craft foam or cardboard. Paste them on the back of the clothespin. Paint or paste googly eyes on to the clothespin. Paint a mouth as well. Now you have an angel in a white gown. If you have milk cartons or creamers that have the plastic rip off tops...use this as the halo. You can put a magnet on it and use it as a note clip.
Another idea for an angel craft is to take a cardboard tube....cut it down the center. Roll it back together like a cone...bigger on the bottom and smaller on the top. Paint the cardboard tube white. Then Paint eyes, nose and a mouth on a ping pong ball. When it is dry...glue it to the top of the cone. Now cut out wing shapes and paint gold or yellow (if you don't have gold). Then glue these to the back of the angel.
This colorful and glamorous little angel captures the true Christmas spirit. To make it you will need the following materials...a cone-shaped drinking cup, ping-pong ball, gold paper, metal scouring pad, paper lace doily, crayons, paste, scissors, white paper, metallic paper, and paints. Cut 2 inches off the tip of a cone-shaped drinking cup, leaving a little tab on each side, as in illustration A. For the robe, cut and paste a piece of metallic paper over the cup. Cut a hole in the center of a paper lace doily and slip it over the robe. If you like, you may use 2 small paper lace doilies and glue them over the robe so that they overlap in the back. For the arms, twist a narrow piece of metallic paper to form a strip, and hang it around the angel's neck. Fold a small piece of white paper to make the song book, and print the word "Noel" on the cover in red crayon. Glue the book to the angel's "hands." Fold a piece of gold paper in half and cut out the wings, as in illustration B. Glue the wings to the back of the angel. Paint features on the ping-pong ball and place it on the body. Glue the 2 tabs to the ball to hold it in place. Cut the angel's curls from the metal scouring pad and glue them to the head, as in illustration C.
These are fun to make and you don't have to have any great skill to make them. Firstly, print out the following paper angel template. Then color and decorate the template. Then cut out along the solid black lines. Then glue the tab down (its on the top of the angel). Push a piece of yarn or string thru the tab and tie into a loop. Now your angel is ready to hang on your christmas tree or on a door knob.
