It's like magic!!! That is the first thing that lots of little kids think when they see imprinting crafts being done for the first time. You have this blank piece of paper, you scribble all over it and a picture appears on it. If that isn't little kid magic, than I don't know what is. Scribbling is one of the few skills that lots of little kids have and they are all really jealous of people who can draw. Doing an embossing craft makes them feel like they are gifted too. They are so easy too.
Just put a textured object like a leaf under the paper and lightly scribble all over it. You can do it on lots of cool stuff other than leaves too. The first time I did one was in a cemetery, getting etchings of an old tombstone effigy. I don't necessarily recommend taking a little kids to a cemetery to get etchings off of tombstones but older kids might get into it. A lot of times you can get readable prints from stones that are too hard to read with the naked eye, that really gives a detective like feeling to the kids.
Leaf Imprints - Learn how to use real leaves to make imprints in your paper.
4 Maple Leaf Crafts Paper Imprints Activity For Kids - - With the fall season comes the beautiful red and yellow leaves, why not take your kids out to enjoy them. Plan a nature walk together and take a bag along with you, while out ask the kids to pick some maple leaves to take home for crafts. Use these leaves to make one (or all) of these simple craft ideas. I have done these with my kids each and every year and they always want to make more then one!
"Have a great vacation!" card with a quilled crab and sailboat - This is a simple handmade card with elements of paper quilling. The quilled shapes require some experience in quilling (especially the crab, which is very tiny), so I can’t say this is beginner’s level. I also tried to incorporate some embossing into this project.
