Urgh, what am I going to do with this pile of pins and needles that are falling all over the place and keep pricking me. The same thing people have been doing for centuries with needles - make a pincushion craft and then I will have a soft little pillow, shaped something like a ball or a tomato and I can shove pointy objects into it. Wallah, problem solved. Now where are those tissues so I can clean up these puddles of my blood (is anyone else feeling dizzy).
Here are some unique pin cushions that you can make and here are what you need to make them: 3 styrofoam balls 2" in diameter, enough yarn to completely cover balls, 1 yard yarn or ribbon in a different color, 3 sequins (2 of the same color), 4 straight pins, scissors, and a ruler. Cut yarn into 24" lengths. Cut enough to cover the balls completely. Double the lengths and tie in center. Pin the tied end to a ball. Pull the yarn evenly around the ball and tie on other side with 12" of contrasting ribbon or yarn in a bow. (See sketch a.) Place another ball next to tie and cover it evenly with yarn. This time tie yarn at the top of the second ball. (See sketch a.) Place third ball on top of second tie and draw yarn evenly around it. Tie the yarn on top with last piece of ribbon or yarn. (See sketch a.) Trim left-over yarn into "butch hair cut" for worm. Place sequins for eyes and nose. (See sketch b.) If desired, cut a little from bottom of first 2 balls to make worm balance easier. Pins and needles can be pushed into worm's back.
