Chopsticks are short sticks used in pairs to eat food in some Asian countries. Chopsticks are usually made of bamboo, but sometimes they can be made of plastic or other materials.
Chopsticks can be used for much more than just eating. Children can use them for crafts. For example, they can turn two wooden chopsticks into a hair ornament or take several wooden chopsticks (around 18) and make a chopstick fan. Chopsticks can also be used as knitting needles.
You can save all of your chopsticks from take out Chinese food for a few months and you will then have enough of them to make a beautiful trivet (hot pad). All you have to do is use wood glue to glue chopsticks side by side, as in picture A above. Notice that the chopsticks are glued wide end to narrow end...and do this thru the entire gluing process. Then, as seen in picture B, glue a few chopsticks in the vertical direction for stands. When you use the trivet, the vertical chopstick stands should be on the bottom. This makes a perfect gift for Mom or Dad.
