(Parental Assistance and Supervision Required) When you are ready to get started with woodworking, you are going to need an adult present as all aspects of woodworking are dangerous. Ask your Mom, Dad, or one of your grandparents to help you to learn how to work with wood safely.
To hammer in a nail, strike head of nail flat, as in Figure A.
Hold a piece of wood, 6" x 8", firmly on a table top with the end protruding, as in Figure B.
With a coping saw, cut out a triangle from the short end, as in Figure C.
Clamp bench fork to the table with a "C" clamp for coping saw work, as in Figure D. "C" clamps are also used in holding together two pieces of wood.
With a pencil, mark shape to be cut out. Drill a small hole inside the shape, as in Figure E.
Open coping saw, and pass the blade, teeth pointing down, through hole, as in Figure F.
Close saw, tighten blade and saw around shape, as in Figure G.
