Christmas time is coming which means winter is upon us. When making Christmas cards this year, how about we think about the snow and how beautiful it is. We can incorporate the snow into our Christmas cards. To make the snow we are going to use the splatter method by using a toothbrush. You know how when you clean off your toothbrush it splatters everywhere...we are going to incorporate that technique into our painting of snow...how does that sound? Fun!!!!
Pencil
Paper
Scissor
Newspaper or Newsprint to protect the table
Apron and messy clothes for child
Tacks or masking tape
Toothbrush
White Paint
(1) Have the children draw their own patterns of Santa Claus, Candy canes, Christmas trees, Houses, etc.
(2) Cut them out.
(3) You should put newspaper down on the table and have the child dress in messy clothes or an apron. This is going to get messy.
(4) Tack a sheet of dark paper to desk or other flat surface.
(5) Place pattern on this paper and tack or tape down.
(6) With a good toothbrush, the child should dip in white paint and then brush finger against bristles to make the paint splatter (like snow does).
(7) Let dry and remove the pattern. This white paint gives a soft, snow scene effect
