Be prepared for transformed children. Native American Indian headdresses turn them into wild, whooping warriors as soon as they are finished for wearing. This would be great for dress up play, for playing cowboys and indians, or for Thanksgiving.
glue
pencil
scissors
stapler
light cardboard
construction paper
brass paper fasteners
crayons
Optional : Craft Feathers
(You may use craft feathers instead of making your own feathers.) Cut a feather pattern out of cardboard. To fit the size of the construction paper, don't make feathers longer than 12 inches. The center line and feathering on the feathers are put on with crayon in a contrasting color. Glue the feathers, side by side, between the fold of a strip of lightweight cardboard, 24 inches long, and about 2 inches wide. Between 12 and 14 feathers will be needed, depending on how close they are or how much overlapping there is.
Fit the headdress to the child's head, and then attach the thunderbird ornament to the front of the band.
