Every year, it seems, younger and younger children are carrying around combs. A comb case will keep pocket dust out of the comb teeth. This is a perfect Summer camp craft as working with leather or vinyl is a great past time. This would make a great gift for Dad or Grandpa.

Make a paper pattern first, according to the illustration, allowing at least 1/4 inch extra on the edges to be laced, and the same amount on the toothed side of the comb, to allow for the thickness of the comb. Trace the full pattern of the leather, either glove leather or similar lightweight leather or vinyl, and cut with scissors. Fasten the rough sides together, cementing only the side and bottom edges. This will hold the leather together for punching and lacing. Slit-punch the edges, and stitch with leather lacing, using the over-and-over stitch. Fasten the tag ends of the leather inside the case with cement. Put in the comb, and mark semicircles at the top edges. This is for the finger grip so that it will be easy to get the comb out of the case.
