contents for particular kit
For years I have carried and used one of these myself, made of an Altoids Tin Can, and containing a needle, , blue and white thread wrapped around a small paper, two small safety pins, a split rivet, a small button, a 3-inch piece of 1/4-inch twill tape, and several feet of thin, strong nylon cord. The lid is closed with a strip of adhesive tape—it closes reluctantly, but it closes.
Children at camp like to make such repair kits, and also fit kits out for emergency and fishing supplies. A general repair kit can include items like: screws, nails, wire, rubber bands, fish line, fish.' hooks and cloth patches. To distinguish from actual Altoids tin, paint the box a bright color, or paint a large "E" for emergency or "R" for repair on the lid. Since the boxes are stuffed to capacity, fasten with a strip of adhesive tape.
