Home > Arts and Crafts Projects > Mobile Crafts >How to Make 3d Mobiles
This 3 dimensional craft is built upon the bird dowel mobile craft that we did previously. Build the structure the same way that the instructions tell you to in the bird mobile craft and then come back to this craft and make the 3d ornaments to attach to the mobile structure. There is a clown, a butterfly, and an angelfish...but I'm hoping you will be creative and think up some creative ornaments to place on the mobile as well. Have fun!
3 Wooden dowels
Thread (various lengths)
Construction paper
Scissors
Bead
Sequins / Rhinestones
Tin Foil
Glue
So you are going to want to make the same structure as you did in our other bird dowel mobile craft. Then continue along with this craft by making the following 3d ornaments to hang onto the mobile structure.
1. BUTTERFLY—Draw or trace butterfly on double thickness of construction paper. Cut butterfly out. The will be two butterflies exactly alike. Cut center hole in each, as shown by shaded area in illustration. Hold butterflies together, and with thread, suspend a single bead in hole opening, through double buttefly. Glue sequins on butterflies' wings. Suspend double butterfly from mobile for 3-D effect.
2. ANGEL FISH—2. Draw angel fish in two separate parts, body and tail, on tin foil. Glue body of angel fish to one end of a toothpick, and tail to the other. Glue on rhinestone eye. Suspend mobile structure, as illustrated.
3. CLOWN—Draw clown figure within a circle, only cut out shaded areas, as shown in illustration. In the two other ornaments illustrated has a bit of feather glued to the to 'the construction paper whale has a bit of feather glued to the top and the circle's orbit is a separate ring cut from construction paper to fit.
